Hi, I'm Dave Taylor, and I offer top-quality private guitar and bass lessons to musicians of all ages and skill levels. Whether you're a complete beginner or an advanced player, my one-on-one instruction is designed to get you results. You’ll receive individualized attention and a flexible, success-proven curriculum tailored to your goals—because no two students are alike.
At Dave’s Guitar School, you’ll have the opportunity to learn the music you love, on the instrument you love—acoustic guitar, electric guitar, or bass guitar. Lessons are available in virtually any style, including:
Rock, Pop, Blues, Jazz, Classical, Metal, Country, Folk, Bluegrass, Funk, R&B, and more.
My time-tested teaching approach is designed to help you make rapid progress while mastering the skills that matter most: Guitar fundamentals, lead and rhythm guitar, scales and modes, technique, chords, soloing, music theory, flatpicking, fingerpicking, legato, ear training, transcription, chord melody, sight reading, and developing highly effective practice strategies.
Many of my students have gone on to earn music scholarships or gain acceptance into top music schools. Others have become professional musicians themselves.
Above all, I believe teaching is a higher calling—and I’m deeply grateful to have built a life around helping others grow as players and artists. Over the years, after working with students of all ages and backgrounds, I’ve seen time and again that with patience, practice, and the right guidance, anyone can become a great guitar player.

Dave’s Guitar School is conveniently located at the River Hills Marina Center on beautiful Lake Wylie, within the gated River Hills community—just five minutes from the Buster Boyd Bridge. Whether you arrive by car or boat, you’ll appreciate the welcoming, scenic setting. For anyone accompanying a student, there’s a comfortable indoor lounge and outdoor seating area overlooking the lake—complete with snacks and beverages available for purchase.
Students come from all over the region, including Lake Wylie, Charlotte, Fort Mill, Rock Hill, Clover, York, Gastonia, Belmont, Cramerton, and surrounding areas.
Please note: Lessons are by appointment only. Since the studio is located in a gated community, unannounced visits aren’t possible without prior security clearance. Thank you for understanding!
